sockeye

This would not be a blog written in Alaska if there were not a few fish pictures. Last night my sister, her boyfriend, Bret and I, spent several hours cutting and packaging about 100 pounds of Sockeye salmon we purchased from a local fisherman. Sadly, our new FoodSaver really couldn't process that much fish and kept overheating. I suppose it is simply not made for people who truly put up fish for a winter. So, my sister took about 30lbs of cut up fish to the local processor. Here are a couple shots of the fish as it took over our kitchen last night. It is always a great feeling to know the freezer is full! I love the bright red color of Sockeye, not to mention the taste. Delicious Sockeye meals soon to come...
