sockeye

This would not be a blog written in Alaska if there were not a few fish pictures. Last night my sister, her boyfriend, Bret and I, spent several hours cutting and packaging about 100 pounds of Sockeye salmon we purchased from a local fisherman. Sadly, our new FoodSaver really couldn't process that much fish and kept overheating. I suppose it is simply not made for people who truly put up fish for a winter. So, my sister took about 30lbs of cut up fish to the local processor. Here are a couple shots of the fish as it took over our kitchen last night. It is always a great feeling to know the freezer is full! I love the bright red color of Sockeye, not to mention the taste. Delicious Sockeye meals soon to come...

les puces

A little something lovely to get you over the Wednesday hump, my dears. I had the most amazing time walking around Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, the largest flea market in Paris. Commonly referred to as Les Puces (The Fleas), it was impossible to see everything in a day. By the time we left, my feet hurt from walking so much, and my camera was filled with beautiful memories. I was in heaven. Here are a couple of my favorites from that day.

today I am dreaming of...

I am in love with this pendant lamp from West Elm. I love how the natural shell sparkles. The texture makes me want to run my fingers through it! Totally luxurious.

bedroom bliss

I do hope you each had a wonderful weekend. I for one, could use a little more of it. We started building a chicken coop, pictures soon to come. I cannot wait to gather our first eggs! In the meantime I am continuing to design our bedroom, nearly two years of living in the house, it seems to be about time. Needless to say, I have been looking at a lot for ideas. Here are a few that I find totally serene. I love the elegant yet not fussy feel of all of these rooms. These would be hard rooms to leave on a Monday morning for sure!

kitchen love

I can't get enough of this sweet kitchen! The updated farmhouse style, the bird cages, the clock, the lighting, the chairs...ooo the chairs, what can I say? I am also a huge fan of chalk boards in kitchens and I think the one shown here just ties in so well with the rest of the space. The black and white theme with touches of earthy rustic color make the space feel inviting, as does the eat in dining area. Simply lovely indeed!
